Yippee..tis week's the much-awaited recess week, officially free from all the lectures & tutorials. Though in reality, tis is just a smokescreen as there are still tons of workloads such as assignments, essays, lab reports 2 complete..the list goes on..Haiz.. speaking of tis now..seriously dampening my initially cheerful mood tis morning..

Practically, tis whole wk's fully packed for me..other than my studies, the rest of my week's booked with trainings, gatherings & of course, lastly..the much-anticipated Quidam show on Sat w bro, J right after a meaningful mid-autumn celebratn w old folks @ All Saints Home.. I shall declare tis comin Sat as my official Rest day, away from books..instead a day 2 touch lives of old folks like Auntie Pui Ling (afternoon) & then reward myself with an entertaining circus performance in the evening.

So, coming 2 tink about it, tis is still a well-deserved short break..at least..psychologically..in my mind, i can heave a sense of relief of not having 2 travel from HG to Boon Lay tis entire week..So definitely..a rest from all tat peak-hr rush. I suppose..tis's after all the way of life in our busy Sg lifestyle.. A break that can't be totally free from all those mind-boggling deadlines & workload.. Wat 2 do..Urban city life.. Always on the move.. Or perhaps, i'm just
Anyway, got to sign off soon..cos this entry's supposed 2 b a short one since i need 2 get bk to doing my respiration essay..

Before doing so, here's an interesting descriptn on Success I came across @ SL's room..

Dun aim @ success!
ze more u aim @ it & make it a target,
ze more u r going 2 miss it... ...
For Success, Like Happiness cannot be pursued;
It must ensue & it only does so as ze unintended side effect of one's dedication
to a cause greater than oneself or as ze By-product of ones's Surrender to 1 person
other than oneself

SaFra Sheares Bridge Run 2005.. 11th Sept..
A Kickstart of my long-dist running days...

Hmm..tis was my debut city run ( conside my longest dist ah, not counting the 21km Long March back @ tjc council camp when it was fast walkin then, not joggin).
To be actual, it was a 6.9 km city run with a route starting from Esplanade Bridge towards Raffles Quay, Shenton Way, Maxwell Rd, East Coast Parkway (ECP) & of course, our famous Benjamin Sheares Bridge( as the name of run implied). As tis was the shortest dist out of the 2 other categories, 12km & 21km, the route was diverted at ECP (Eastbound) Rochor exit into Suntec City, then Temasek Ave, Raffles Ave, Connaught Drive & lastly, the finishin pt @ Padang, along St Andrews Rd.

All in all, tis was a true-blue urban city run, jogging past commercial buildings & along expressway as cars zoomed by in the lanes beyong the safety barricades. The weather was fine initially but as we passed the 3km mark, the sun was out by then & the tropical heat's back in full blast again.. But at least, thank god it didn't rain. Nonetheless, the view was scenic, esp when runnin across the Bridge..It was a totally different perspective of view on our Famous Durian architecture and the commercial landmarks near it.

So how had the run been 4 me? Shiok & definitely a great exposure 4 me! I was also glad 2 b running with my dear cousin, SzeLi.I felt a great sense of accomplishment tat we had endured through without walking at any 1 pt, at most slowin down @ the last H2O pt 4 a wet sponge 2 refresh ourselves. I was comfortable w the running pace cos Our speeds are quite close though sL felt that i had improved much & tat i kept slowin down 2 pace her..but i dun tink so..Perhaps, just like wat SL says..she haven't been exercising so regularly which i believe is the true reason behind it. Me not tat super strong physically ah.. Well done, SL!!

Anyway, based on the fact tat this was our 1st time, I am pleased w us clockin abt 45 mins 2 complete the full 6.9 km. It was definitely a great mental training session too, proving how our minds can do wonder.. the prowess of our willpower.. Indeed Mind over Body! Anything's possible as long as u dun give up.. the take-home msg from this experience. After all, everyone of us are running too..in all our very own marathon of life..the long long journey full of challenges ahead. Most importantly, wat i 've learnt 2day is that u will never know unless u try and age is never an issue when u have the fighting spirit & tenacity 2 pull through..just like that 82 yrs old man i saw 2day who completed his either 12/21 km run though he was the last few 2 finish. He was indeed an inspiration 2 me!

So wat's next after this.I suppose it shall b Standard Chartered 10km fun run in December..of course w Szeli again..since this time, she's the one who have been jioing me 2 run as early as May.. AFter that..we shall slowly increase dist and train 4 half-marathon..Oh my...hehe..runnin long dist can b quite addictive too once u start enjoyin the run... The rush of adrenaline..

Meanwhile, back to usual training and gearing up 4 physical fitness test in 2 wks.. My frequency of bloggin will certainly reduce markedly since i'll b busy with trainin, reports & of course muggin as exams begin in abt 1.5 mths time.. Gd luck 2 myself!
